The Best in the Desert’s Silver State 300 wasn’t very hospitable to a sizable Antelope Valley off-road contingent last weekend.
Ran Hooper of Lancaster (Open A), Jeff Truelove of Wrightwood (Open P) and Travis and Justin Weir of Lancaster (IM A) were all felled by did-not-finishes (DNF) on the rugged course in Alamo, Nev.
Jason Duncan, Luke McMillin and Maxton Krommhuek were the overall winners in their trick truck.
Carter Klein of Agua Dulce came home runner-up in the 399 P class.
Danny Magdaleno of Acton posted a third-pace finish among Quad P’s.
Kyle Saracini was ninth in the IM A Class, and Josh Meisler of California City was 30th in the UTV Turbo.
A record number of 289 entries took the green flag.
Haas F1 Team Ready For Formula One Opener
The 70th anniversary season of the World Driving Championship finally gets under way this weekend with the Austrian Grand Prix at Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
The only America team in Formula One is delighted.
Haas F1 Team posted its best-ever finish, with Romain Grosjean fourth and teammate Kevin Magnussen fifth.
Red Bull Ring is one of the series’ shortest courses, covering 2.63 miles and including just 10 turns.
“We’ve had several points-paying finishes in Austria,” Grosjean said. “But we can’t take anything for granted, especially after the horrible year we had in 2019.”
