LANCASTER — The Paraclete boys basketball team defeated Littlerock 91-58 on Thursday in the third of three games at the Tom’s Famous Family Restaurants Basketball Showcase at Paraclete High.

The Spirits improved to 4-0 to start the season, as Amado Coleman and Nolan Boffman both scored 26 points apiece for Paraclete. Myles Rowley added 10 points for the Spirits.

“It was our best effort of the young season,” Paraclete coach Newton Chelette said. “That was the best 32 minutes we’ve put together so far this season.

“We played with a lot of energy. I thought our focus and concentration was the best it’s been this year.”

In the other two Showcase games at Paraclete on Thursday, Eastside defeated Burroughs-Ridgecrest 70-56 and Palmdale beat Tehachapi 75-71.

The two-day Showcase concludes on Saturday with three more games: Eastside vs. Tehachapi at 4 p.m., Littlerock vs. Burroughs at 5:30 p.m. and Palmdale vs. Paraclete at 7 p.m.

Girls Basketball

Highland 49, Antelope Valley 33

LANCASTER — The Highland girls basketball team defeated Antelope Valley 49-33 in a Golden League game on Thursday.

Aaliyah Jackson led the Antelopes (1-5, 0-2 GL) with 18 points, while By’trivia Thomas scored nine.

“I thought we came out with a lot more energy than last game,” AV coach Brandon Walker said. “Our younger players are understanding a lot more of what we’re expecting them to do defensively. We have a lot more to work on, but every day is getting better. 

“The group of girls we have at the varsity level is phenomenal. … They all have positive attitudes and hard-working mentality. They’re coachable.”

Tyra Scott scored her first basket in the post for the Antelopes, something she has been working on.

The Antelopes host Quartz Hill on Tuesday, while Highland (3-1, 2-0 GL) plays Village Christian in a tournament game on Monday.

Quartz Hill 38, Eastside 16

QUARTZ HILL — The Quartz Hill girls basketball team won a Golden League contest 38-16 over Eastside at home on Thursday.

Senior Dalia Bagdasaryan led all scorers with 11 points for the Rebels (3-4, 1-1 GL), who led 21-10 at halftime.

Quartz Hill plays Adelanto in a non-league game at home at noon on Saturday, while Eastside (1-1, 1-1) hosts Palmdale in a Golden League game on Tuesday.
