LANCASTER — The Palmdale Aerospace Academy girls volleyball team defeated Desert Christian in straight sets, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 in a Heritage League match at Desert Christian High on Tuesday.

Desert Christian junior Cambria Parker broke a school record with seven blocks, to go with 12 kills and 22 attempts.

Shelby Case finished with six kills on 23 attempts and 11 digs, despite playing in a different position.

“I love playing against Palmdale Aerospace Academy,” Desert Christian coach Matthew Cataldo said. “I think tonight, this was two very, very solid teams. As a coach I love playing against their team.

“I was proud of my team showing up against a team that they knew was going to be tough.”

Desert Christian (4-7 in league) will have its Senior Night in a match on Thursday night against Faith Baptist.

Girls Tennis

Knight 11, Lancaster 7

LANCASTER — The Knight girls tennis team defeated Lancaster 11-7 in a Golden League match on Tuesday.

The Hawks won eight of nine singles sets and three doubles sets to pull out the win.

Gayveh Dimas swept her sets, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 singles for Knight, while No. 2 Esther Chamale also won all three of her sets, 6-3, 6-0, 6-2, and No. 3 Rosie Garcia picked up two wins, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

In doubles, the Hawks’ No. 2 duo of Perla Lizarraga and Zubaida Morataya won two sets, 6-3, 6-1, while Bianca Gonzalez and Jennifer Avila picked up a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles.

Lancaster’s No. 1 doubles team of Shayla Arguelles and Ivett Nunez swept, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3, while the No. 2 team of Kat Leal and Julyannah Ocampo won two sets, 6-2, 6-0. The No. 3 duo of Czarina Tampus and Janine Olorvida picked up a 6-4 victory.

Lauren Crawley also posted a 6-4 win at No. 1 singles for the Eagles.

Quartz Hill 18, Eastsie 0

QUARTZ HILL — The Quartz Hill girls tennis team defeated Eastside 18-0 at Quartz Hill High School on Tuesday.

Riley Johnson won 6-0, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Rebels, while No. 2 Emma Abaied picked up a 6-0, 6-2, 6-0 sweep and No. 3 Hanna Hoang added a 6-2, 6-1, 6-0 sweep.

In doubles, Semma Hadaya and Mia Ogebe teamed up three 6-0 victories, while Brooke Faulk and Naia Smithley won 6-0, 6-4, 6-0 and Maddie Mets and Nassim Tavakoli picked up two wins, 6-2, 6-0. Mets then teamed up with Victoria Edwards for a 6-2 victory to complete the sweep.

Quartz Hill will play at Antelope Valley on Thursday, while Eastside hosts Palmdale at AVC.
