MEDAL WINNERS — Genesis gymnasts Justice Smith, top left, Jennifer Acevedo, top right, Brianna Quijada, middle left, Sydney Motin, middle right, Presley Medlin, bottom left, and Valerie Rodarte, bottom right, all finished in the top four in their divisions at the Cuyamaca Classic.


The Genesis Gymnastics level 4 team took first place as a team in the recent Cuyamaca Classic. 

Presley Medlin led the team with a 36.30 for a third-place all-around finish, placing third on vault, third on bars, seventh on beam and second on floor. Valerie Rodarte took second in the all-around in her division with a 36.15, placing fourth on vault and bars, second on floor and first on beam.

Sydney Motin took fourth-place honors in her division with a 36.00, placing second on vault and floor and sixth on bars. Riley Moran took fifth place all-around honors with a 35.725, finishing fourth on vault and second on beam. Tayler Lemenager took sixth in the all-around with a 35.675, placing fifth on beam and second on floor. Rubi Mendoza was seventh with a 35.65, placing sixth on beam, seventh on vault, eighth on floor and 10th on bars.

Brianna Quijada took fourth place in the all-around with a 35.425, placing third on vault, bars and beam and fourth on floor. Haley Aston took eighth in the all-around with a 35.05, placing seventh on vault and ninth on beam. Hailey Santana placed fourth on vault and second on beam, Hannah Arujo took seventh on vault and sixth on floor and Jordyn Best took home a ninth-place finish on bars.

The Genesis level 5 team took third place team honors with gymnast Justice Smith leading her team to a fourth place all-around finish with 35.85 placing eighth on vault, fourth on bars and third on floor.

Katarina Clark finished in sixth place with a 35.725, placing fourth on vault, second on bars, and eighth on floor. 

Jennifer Acevedo took second in the all-around in her division with a 35.55, placing first on vault and bars and second on beam and floor. Jenna Carlson placed eighth on beam.

The level 3 team brought home second place with Kennedy Arujo taking sixth in the all-around with a 35.475, placing sixth on vault and bars, seventh on floor and eighth on beam. Sophia Mann took seventh in the all-around with a 35.25, placing seventh on vault and beam and eighth on bars and floor. ,

Geneva Lara took eighth in the all-around with a 35.025, placing fourth on vault, sixth on beam and ninth on bars and floor. NyiAnna Spencer placed ninth in the all-around, finishing 10th on vault, seventh on bars, ninth on beam and fifth on floor. Alex Greer took a 10th place all-around finish and placed ninth on vault and 10th on bars, beam and floor.

The season will officially start in September, so the Genesis coaches said they were very proud of the preseason success these young gymnasts are having.
