MOJAVE — The Lancaster boys soccer team defeated Mojave 5-0 in a non-league match on Monday.

The Eagles (2-1) received goals from five different players.

Jaden Medina and Kyle Willey each had a goal and an assist for Lancaster.

Medina assisted on the Eagles’ first goal by Miguel Carrillo in the 10th minute. He later scored the final goal in the 80th minute with an assist from Willey. 

Willey scored the fourth goal for the Eagles in the 75th minute with an assist from Diego Jauregui.

Lancaster’s Joey Moreno put in the second goal in the 30th minute, assisted by Evan Palomera and Chisom Ene put the Eagles up 3-0 in the 47th minute, assisted by Andrew Ruiz.

Lancaster opens Golden League play at Quartz Hill on Wednesday and hosts the 19th annual Eagle Cup this Friday and Saturday at the Lancaster National Soccer Center.

Mojave (0-1) plays Garces Memorial in the Rebel Winter Classic on Friday.

Boys Basketball

Rosamond 73, Palmdale Aerospace 68

PALMDALE — The Rosamond boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a 73-68 comeback victory over host Palmdale Aerospace Academy on Monday.

The Griffins (2-5) led most of the game and entered the fourth quarter with a 10-point lead.

“We gave that up. They were making shots and we weren’t, which was frustrating,” TPAA coach Keith Bennett said, adding he gives credit to Rosamond’s shooters. “We let one slip away.”

Makhi Edwards led the Roadrunners (1-3) with a game-high 39 points.

Isaiah Enyard led the Griffins with 21 points, while Anthony Carrillo added 14 points.

Palmdale Aerospace plays host to Desert on Wednesday, while Rosamond plays host to Arvin on Thursday.
