The Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Newby will perform at 4 p.m., Sept. 22, at Country Oaks Baptist Church. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Country Oaks Baptist Church is located at 20915 Schout Road.  

The program will begin with Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and continue with fiddler/violinist Jana Jae, joining the symphony to perform traditional fiddle music of various genres — old time, bluegrass, gypsy and Celtic.

After the intermission, TSO will end the concert with Antonin Dvorak’s “Symphony No. 9, the New World Symphony.”

This concert is sponsored in part by a grant from the Virginia and Alfred Harrell Foundation.

Audience members may meet directors, soloist and musicians during the reception following the concert.
