Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt
1301 Rancho Vista Blvd., (Outside AV Mall, next to Dick’s)
Menchie’s is your destination for delicious frozen yogurts, sorbets, gelato, toppings, sauces and cakes for any occasion. Flavors like mango sorbet, dulce de leche, original tart and pure chocolate swirl are just the tip of the iceberg. Fresh fruit, chocolate, candy, cookies and more, plus dairy free, no sugar added, vegan & gluten free options, something for everyone’s sweet cravings. The famed 'Dole Whip Floats' (yes, the same one from Disneyland & the Dole plant in Hawaii) are available. I created an incredible mixture of paradise fruit punch and Dole whip pineapple sorbet then added strawberry popping boba, kiwi, strawberries and cookie dough. I say there is nothing more refreshing than a cup of frozen deliciousness. My first bite brought me back to my childhood eating bigsticks from the ice cream man—a memorable flavor you never forget. On our way out to enjoy our creations, we noticed the cases full of decorated cakes. I went back to pick up a chocolate and vanilla cake with Oreos and chocolate on top to enjoy with dinner. What a beautiful presentation of awesomeness and the flavor was just as awesome. Pick one up for your next party. Open daily 11:30am-9PM for take-out, delivery and patio seating.
Lucky Roxy’s Cafe

A warm and cozy restaurant awaits you just west of the 14 fwy on Palmdale Blvd. The restaurant is pristine with comfy booths in rich red, black and white. It is locally owned and family run and everyone is so friendly. On the menu it states “You’ll always find something you like!”
American breakfast, lunch and dinner with a little Mexican and Italian mixed in! We dined in the day before the closing of the restaurant dining rooms, I ordered the French Dip—delicious, tender and juicy meat with a rich and savory au jus and yummy French fries. Arissa ordered an individual pan crust pizza with fresh tomato chunks, adding mushrooms, olives and artichoke hearts. This was one very delicious pizza and 2 bites was all I needed to write about the great flavor—the mixture of ingredients mixed well with the pizza sauce and cheese. Perfect crust—lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with just a hint of sweetness. Brenda’s classic cheeseburger with all the trimmings was simple and basic with an incredible taste and presentation. Open daily 8:00am – 8pm for curbside pick-up, take-out and delivery. Delicious food at great prices, you will definitely find something you like!

Chicago style BBQ & soul food is what you get at D&B—two army soldiers from Chicago bringing a taste of mid-west soul to the west coast. Their mission is to make your next event the talk of the town. The café serves breakfast and lunch daily and dinner on the weekends. Waffles, breakfast sandwiches, croissants, fresh fruit, grits, pastries and assorted beverages are available for breakfast with Chicago hotdogs, hot links, homemade potato salad, five cheese mac & cheese and a daily special—fried chicken, garlic mashed potatoes or French fries for lunch. Dinner specials are posted on fb for the weekends which is what prompted me to stop by—the picture of the hotdog with grilled onions! The dog was grilled to perfection and smothered with the most delicious, rich and savory grilled onions I have ever tasted. I added a little mustard when I got home and quite “frankly”, this had to be the most delicious hotdog I have ever had—one of my secret indulgences. The BBQ ribs that were posted looked amazing as well—can’t wait to go back and try them. Open Tue thru Sat 10AM-7PM, Sun. 10AM-6PM for take-out & delivery.
AV Crab N’ Spice
40008 10th St. W., Palmdale
Cajun seafood in a bag is what they sell but fabulous flavor is what they are all about! We picked up two bags last week—shrimp and snow crab. We took it to the next level by adding corn and potatoes and chose “original” for both spice and seasoning. The most delectable aroma was permeating throughout the car on the 17- minute drive home, I know exactly how long it took as Arissa kept asking me, “how much longer, grandma?” We walked in the house, opened the bags and poured everything out onto our plates, splitting the shrimp and crab leg clusters. Fun, delicious and messy was definitely the theme for the evening as we dove-in with both hands. The aroma matched the taste and we just couldn’t get enough. Potatoes and corn were boiled to a perfect consistency and great taste. We ordered a small loaf of fresh baked bread to dip in that fabulous Cajun flavored addicting sauce which we did to the very last drop! The menu has quite a few other options—king crab, Dungeness crab, crawfish, lobster tail, clams and mussels plus baskets of fried goodies. Open Mon-Thurs 11:30am-3pm and 5-9pm; Fri-Sun 12-9pm for take-out and delivery.
Pueblo Viejo Salvadorian & Mexican Restaurant
739 W. Lancaster Blvd., Lancaster
A taste of our paradise is what is written on the menu and that is what you get when you dine in this quaint little restaurant. We enjoyed the beautiful weather last week and sat on the outdoor patio sipping an ice-cold bottle of Pacifica beer getting ready to have a nice dinner with friends. We started off with an appetizer of guacamole with chorizo beans—homemade guac served with refried beans mixed with Mexican chorizo. This dish was smokey with a hint of sweet and spicy—the fresh made guacamole was the perfect accompaniment. My dinner order included a tostada de camarones—diced shrimp piled high with onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and cilantro topped with plenty of lime. Light, refreshing with an incredible taste—the perfect summer dish. Brenda and I shared the Platano con frijoles—deep fried tropical bananas served with refried beans and Salvadorian sour cream. A delightful dish with a variety of mouth-watering flavors. The menu is quite extensive with appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, seafood traditional Mexican and Salvadorian dishes as well as a nice variety of pupusas—a Salvadorian staple and house favorite. Breakfast, lunch & dinner plus beer and micheladas are served daily 10AM-8PM on the patio or take-out.

For the past eight years, 1800 has been serving up delicious tacos, burritos and quesadillas—simple menu with complex taste! Everything is made fresh daily using no lard, no cans and no freezers! The menu states, “Simply the best burritos and tacos” and I concur—everything I have ever tried has been not only been excellent but a huge portion as well—enough left over for the following day. Burritos include specially seasoned meat, rice, beans, pico de gallo and your choice of hot or mild salsa all wrapped up in delicious large flour tortilla and the tacos contain the same ingredients minus the rice on a corn tortilla. We ordered a “wet” bean & cheese burrito; egg, bean & cheese burrito and a regular bean & cheese burrito—notice the “bean” theme. Chicken, steak, shrimp, pastor, fish & Philly cheese steak are also offered; however, I love the flavor of the fresh cooked beans and cheese on the soft steamed tortilla—it’s like a perfect melody of flavor. Chips, chips & salsa, nachos, chips & guacamole, tostada bowls and asada fries are available plus soft drinks, orange juice, homemade drinks and desserts. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily 11AM-6PM for take-out—order online at www.1800blvd.com.
