Belladonna Tea Room and Gift Boutique is a favorite of for so many reasons: the delicious food, the ambiance, shopping in the wonderful gift shop filled with quaint and whimsical décor and for the relaxation.  Some people love it for the hats of every color and style that you can “borrow” while having your lunch or tea and scones, or because the owner always greets you with a warm smile and words of encouragement, or maybe just being in a place where it just makes you feel good right down to your soul.

If you have ever wondered about that cute little purple house on the corner of Avenue J-6 and 10th Street West that you have driven by for the past 20 years, and yes, I did say 20 years, wonder no more as this is Belladonna Gift Boutique and Tea Room— a true taste of England right here in the Antelope Valley and was featured in “Victorian Home Magazine”, rated No. 1 tea room in California @ teamap.com

My three generation of girls and I decided to celebrate our family’s October and November birthdays last week and what a perfect celebration—enjoying Queen & Princess Tea, making new happy memories as well as reliving wonderful old memories from all the times we have spent enjoying tea at Belladonna’s. It was so much fun from the moment we walked in the door with yummy scents emitting from the kitchen as well as the boutique giving us the warmest feelings.

The youngest at age 2 ½ was just mesmerized by all the beauty around her and her dad practiced with her the day before on how to hold a cup of tea, remembering to put her little pinkie finger out! The oldest of my granddaughters at 15 poured the tea for the two younger ones being sure to strain the tea first. We had the most delicious freshly made, warm pumpkin scones—airy on the inside, golden on the outside with just a hint of sweet. Adding the Devonshire cream and preserves was like the icing on the cake—good till the last crumb. The pumpkin bacon soup which was served in a china teacup had a “B” swirled on top in cream was absolutely heavenly—thick, creamy, rich and savory and was definitely the soup of my dreams. And, don’t even get me started on the petite sandwiches as they were so colorful and chock full of flavor from the cheeses to the hummus to the delightful chicken salad which were all made by hand, with love. After all of that deliciousness, our dessert tray came— layers and layers of delightfully rich, sweet, indulgent desserts filled with creams, chocolate and almost to pretty to eat…almost. They were elegant and accessible, and packed a major flavor sensation. Everything was scrumptious and had us begging for more.
