Let them prove it

I am reading in today’s paper that the Guidance Charter School has been refused — once again — to be granted permission to open the school.

Why have they been rejected again? How bad can their application be? They have experience, having operated for 17 years and then their contract has been denied over and over again! From what I have heard, the parents were happy with what the school was doing to help their children — the students — who come first in any case.

I am not on the School Board and not a teacher in the district. Therefore, I understand I do not have first-hand information on what is going on.

However, it just seems ridiculous not to give the Guidance Charter School another chance to prove themselves. As I understand it, attendance at a charter school is not mandatory — it is an option that parents can select for their children.

I believe that Guidance Charter School should be granted permission to operate and let the proof of the educational model show what they can accomplish. Our current school kids need all the help they can get.

Very interesting

It was very interesting that the following two articles came out on the same day.

#1 the lawsuit in Massachusetts against Purdue Pharma, the makers of OxyCotin who in their greed, have created addicts out of millions of Americans and according to the article, killed 72,000 in 2017.

#2 the law makers in drug ravaged West Virginia are about to offer money for the construction of our president’s wall to keep out drugs.

I can see how the West Virginians want to protect their citizens from drugs, not realizing that our very own American manufacturers have rained down addiction into our nation. It demonstrates the greed of big pharmaceutical companies.

When is it enough? How many families shattered? How many lives must be lost? According to the CDC, in LA County, there where an average of 400 deaths per year from 2006-2012 associated with a positive test for prescription opioids.

In 2017, the death rate increased to 794. Beware when you take your child to the dentist or doctor and he/she is given Vicodin, OxyCotin, Percocet, Oxymorphone, Morphine, or Codeine to manage pain.

If addiction is in the genes, you may have a problem on your hands in a few days to a week. The DEA states one out of seven Americans will struggle with addiction. Pharmaceutical companies should provide funding for rehab programs and pay to collect and dispose of unused medication regularly, to keep those drugs out of the community. Jobs, not drugs!

It’s not the same

Skip Thacker: “If a group of people showed up on your front lawn, uninvited, not speaking your language, demanding that you accept, feed, clothe, house, medicate all of them, would you open your home to them, give them access to all you have...?”

First of all, that is a specious argument because an individual’s residence is not an instrument of production that can be compared to the totality of the U.S. economy which could easily absorb one million new immigrants per year.

Secondly, contrary to Thacker’s suggestion, undocumented immigrants are not freeloaders who drain government coffers. For the undocumented are not eligible for food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.

In actuality, undocumented workers bolster the economy. In fact, in 2005, the Comptroller of Texas, Carole Keeton, reported that were it not for Texas’ undocumented population, that state would have seen a 2.1% decline in the gross state product, a 2.3% decline in employment and a 2.6% decline in personal income.

Finally, given that I know Mr. Thacker to be a Christian, I’m wondering as to what it is that he finds problematic about the Bible’s Matthew 25:35 which reads, “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

Who’s to blame?

Gee, “Trump is the Anti-Christ”?

If Trump were demonic, wouldn’t he advocate for abortion, be against the death penalty and not care about the third world invasion of our country from the South? It blows my mind how some have gotten it so backwards; the Left controlled, deep-state, mainstream mouthpiece has duped you.

Here is an irony for you, 50 years ago we were warned of this happening. “This is media, an irresponsible media. “It will make the criminal look like he’s the victim and make the victim look like he is the criminal. If you aren’t careful, the media will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing. This is sort of a propaganda tactic that I would call psychological warfare.” Malcolm X.

That was a dire warning from a colorful character. Case in point: the Left would have you believe that the KKK was a bunch of conservative Republicans when in reality they were Democrats. If all the sheep in this country don’t wake up soon, then Venezuela, here we come.
