Wake up

Another 2,300 people coming to the U.S. border. When are we going to stop this nonsense?

I know you Liberals fell sorry for them but it has to stop. After this one another one and another one. we cannot continue to support this people. We have our own people to support.

Count the homeless we have and when these immigrants get in the country, they get everything free, while our own people starve. It’s high time to stop them from getting in. Tell your Socialist Democrats to wake up.

Varsity blues and white privilege

In a FBI investigation entitled “Varsity Blues,” parents were alleged to have made payments to ensure that their children attended prestigious colleges.

Colleges such as USC, Georgetown University, Yale, Stanford, UCLA, University of Texas and Wake Forest have been implicated. “Admissions test scores were allegedly altered and coaches were reportedly bribed to support the admission of unqualified students.” “The College Scam: Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin: Two Biblical Responses: Christian Post, March 2019. Apparently, this has been going on since 2011.

There is no doubt that this was based on white privilege, which is defined from Wikipedia as a “…societal privilege that benefits people whom [identified ] as white [that is not] commonly experienced by non-white people under the same social, political or economic circumstances.

In April 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-2 (Schuette v. Coalition To Defend Affirmative Action) that Michigan’s voter-approved ban on race-based admission programs in its public colleges should be upheld.

Justice Sotomayer dissented, saying she was accepted into Yale Law School due to affirmative action.

She wrote, “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to speak openly and candidly on the subject of race, and to apply the Constitution with eyes open to the unfortunate effects of centuries of racial discrimination.” “Justice Sonia Sotomayer: Affirmative Action ‘Opened Doors In My Life,’, 22 April 2014

Sotomayer graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Keppa from Princeton. However, she needed affirmative action to be accepted into Yale Law School.

I have read many letters over the years to this newspaper from white people criticizing affirmative action, but when the Varsity Blues investigation was revealed, not one white person wrote in. Wonder why? Minorities have always asserted that whites have an unfair advantage.

Which way

to the hospital?

We have two great hospitals in the Antelope Valley but few directional signs on the 14 Freeway designating how to reach them. There are only a few two-foot square blue “H” signs barely visible while driving.

Why do we not have a large sign stating the name of the hospital, exit number and distance to the exit for both hospitals? For example, Palmdale regional Hospital, Exit 35, one mile.

The only blue sign heading South on the Freeway was situated about 50 feet from the exit. If you were not in the right turning lane, you would not see it. Now that this area is being expanded, it seems like a great time to start the sign placements at this location.

We need compassion for people who are in emergency situations and desperate to reach an ER and physician who can help them or a loved one.

I think each city can install these signs and the cost is worth saving a life.

Not without controversy

I am not a supporter of former vice president Joe Biden. However, I believe the media has lost its way by trying to paint him as a dirty old man.

He has been in public service for over 40 years. To my knowledge, he has never been accused of any wrongdoing. He is a family man and a professional. The loss of his son to a medical condition affected him deeply.

Now that he has indicated an interest in running for president, the “me too” people and others have dredged up allegations of sexual misconduct.

Mr. Biden is an old school person and for much of our nation’s history, it was OK to hug, pat someone on the back, kiss and show feelings publicly. Now it’s not.

So it has become open season on Joe Biden. It’s nonsense and it must stop. If it doesn’t, even God could not be elected president without controversy.

Bait and switch

Last night, the Palmdale City Council voted to add the Avenue S Corridor Study to the General Plan Study.

In previous votes, no proposals from developers asking for zoning changes would be considered until this study was completed.

A representative for a development spoke during the public comment session asking the City Council to consider green lighting his project even though it requires changes to the current zoning. Under the direction of the mayor, the City Council amended the proposal, tacking the request for exemption onto the vote on the General Plan study. No public comments were allowed on this change.

This decision allows the one project to bypass the ban on zoning changes and proceed toward approval to build. This type of piecemeal planning decision will allow developers to take over the process making any General Plan study moot. The City Council needs to be leading this process not following the desires of speculators.
