CALIFORNIA CITY — A Bakersfield woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a collision on California City Boulevard, the Kern County Sheriff’s office reported.
Dorothy Jean Boyd, 71, was killed when the car she was driving collided with another vehicle on California City Boulevard near Yerba Boulevard at about 1:30 p.m.
Boyd died at the scene as a result of her injuries sustained in the collision, according to the Kern County Sheriff-Coroner.
According to the California City Police Department and citing witness reports, Boyd was driving a Toyota Camry when she crossed Cal City Boulevard and was struck by a Chevy Captiva.
Boyd was found unconscious and not breathing. Police officers and firefighter paramedics performed CPR, but she was not revived.
The driver of the Chevy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Cal City Police officials said.
Speed or alcohol do not appear to be factors in this collision, officials said. The cause of the accident is under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact California City Police Lt. Hightower at 760-373-8606.
