LANCASTER — Lancaster City Councilwoman Angela Underwood-Jacobs on Thursday announced her intention to challenge freshman Rep. Katie Hill, D-Agua Dulce, for the 25th Congressional District seat.
Underwood-Jacobs was appointed to the City Council in 2015 to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of former Councilwoman Sandra Johnson. Underwood-Jacobs was elected to a full term in 2016.
The councilwoman currently serves as regional manager and senior vice president of California Bank and Trust
“I have lived, worked, and raised children in this community for most of my life,” Underwood-Jacobs said in a statement. “I am disappointed with the direction of our current congresswoman who regularly supports out-of-touch socialist ideals and Pelosi’s reckless spending plans that will place an undue tax burden on our nation’s hardworking families. I will be an advocate for the people of the 25th district, not leftist ideologies and party bosses.”
