PALMDALE — Sheriff’s deputies are continuing to investigate a brief pursuit Saturday that ended after the driver lost control of the car on a curve and crashed over a curb and sidewalk, authorities said.

A deputy was on patrol at 5 p.m. Saturday when he noticed a car being driven recklessly and erratically through the intersection of 11th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard (Avenue P), Lt. Anthony Gunn of the Palmdale sheriff’s station said.

The black Honda Accord took off when the deputy attempted a traffic stop but the pursuit ended shortly thereafter when the driver failed to negotiate a curve at Bulldog Avenue and 30th Street West and went off the road, Gunn said.

A news photographer at the scene said two boys, about age 16, were put into a patrol car and that one was the driver. He said the teenage girl was taken to a hospital and that all three appeared to be intoxicated.

“There were no major injuries,” Gunn said, and the car belonged to the driver’s mother.

The driver is facing charges of felony evading and driving under the influence, according to deputies at the scene.
