LANCASTER (CNS) — A teenage girl was shot and killed today in Lancaster and investigators were trying to locate her 18-year-old brother, who

they described as a person of interest in the case.

The shooting was reported about 5:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of West Avenue J-15, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, officials said.

The shooting was not a suicide, according to Deputy Joana Warren of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, who identified the brother as Eddie Alvirez.
