Dancing with the Stars

LIGHT ON THEIR FEET — A celebrity couple from Dancing With the AV Stars 2017 dances. This year’s event is scheduled to take place on Feb. 16 at the Performing Arts Theatre at Antelope Valley College.

LANCASTER — Get out your dancing shoes and come watch the celebrities shine at the Dancing With the AV Stars 2019 All Star Season on Feb. 16 at the Performing Arts Theatre at Antelope Valley College, 3041 West Ave. K.

In this eighth annual event, Antelope Valley’s celebrity seven will pair up with the professionals to dance the night away for a good cause.

Antelope Valley celebrities Ty Godde, Lupe Rightmeyer, Dylan Finch, Nancy Scott, Michael Argo, Vanessa Caron and Heather Hough will go head-to-head in this star-studded competition.

Opportunities will occur throughout the evening to purchase votes for your favorite duo. The cost is $1 per vote.

“The evening of Feb. 16, there will be something for everyone including special performances and time to cheer on, watch, and vote for the couples for the Dancing with the AV Stars as they compete for the trophy,” artistic director Lisa Sandoval said.

There also will be special performances throughout the course of the evening by professional dancers, jazz, Latin, and hip hop performers, Dance Force Youth Ballroom students, and special guest singers, according to Sandoval.

A cash bar will be available beginning at 6 p.m. with entertainment and performances from 7 to 10 p.m.

Red carpet arrivals begin at 6:15 p.m.

Sponsored by the USA Dance AV Chapter, a nonprofit established in 2004 to promote partner dancing for individuals, the fundraiser will help support the chapter’s three-day Dancing For Health event. Specifically, the funds will go toward the Dance Force Youth Ballroom Program for students fourth grade through high school, which culminates at the 15th annual High Desert Dance Classic dance convention.

The convention, which is a community-based event for youth, college students, adults, and active seniors, is conducted at the Antelope Valley College the weekend of March 8-10 (www.highdesertdanceclassic.com). It offers competitions, dance workshops for all levels and performances.

Tickets for Dancing with the AV Stars 2019 range from $20 to $37 and are available online at tickets.avc.edu or at the Performing Arts Theatre at Antelope Valley Theater box office.
