PEARBLOSSOM — Two separate, unrelated accidents led to power outages this week affecting hundreds of Southern California Edison customers in unincorporated Los Angeles County communities on the Valley’s east side.

Power was out for 885 customers early Wednesday when a bird on a power line caused damage, something that is unpredictable but not uncommon, a Southern California Edison spokesperson said.

The power was out from shortly before midnight and restored at 3:19 a.m.

The outage affected customers in Pearblossom, Littlerock and Valyermo.

In an unrelated incident on Sunday, power was out in a similar region after a car struck a power pole and disrupted service.

The outage occurred at 3:13 p.m. and power was not restored until 9:23 a.m. the next morning due to the extensive nature of the repairs.

That outage affected 1,500 customers in the same areas as Wednesday’s disruption.
