LANCASTER — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies recently arrested two armed robbery and vehicle burglary suspects and are now seeking additional victims who may have had their vehicles broken into at two local gyms.
On Saturday, deputies responded to an armed robbery call in the parking lot of the Best Western Hotel at 2038 West Ave. I. The victim said he was approached by two men, each brandishing a handgun, who demanded the bags the victim was carrying, deputies said.
The victim was able to provide descriptions of the two and their vehicle, a green Chrysler 300.
The ensuing investigation led deputies to a location in the 46000 block of 70th Street East in unincorporated Lancaster, where they found a green Chrysler 300 matching the description from the earlier robbery.
A search of the property yielded numerous identification cards, cell phones and debit cards. These included items from a burglary reported the previous day of a car parked at 24 Hour Fitness at 1220 West Ave. K in Lancaster. Deputies also found the items reported stolen in the hotel parking lot robbery.
The additional items recovered matched items that have been previously reported stolen in various vehicle burglaries at both 24 Hour Fitness and Planet Fitness located at 44600 Valley Central Way.
During the investigation, a 14-year-old male was identified by one of the victims as the driver of the Chrysler 300 who robbed him at gunpoint. The juvenile was detained and transported to Sylmar Detention Facility.
Jordan Cooper, 20, was arrested and charged with robbery. He was transported and booked at Lancaster Station, and bail was set at $50,000.
Detectives are now seeking additional victims. If your vehicle was broken into while parked at either 24 Hour Fitness or Planet Fitness, please contact Burglary Team, Detective Elizondo at 661-940-3864.
