LITTLEROCK — A 59-year-old Palmdale man was killed Thursday morning when he was hit by a car as he walked along Avenue T.

At approximately 1:40 a.m. Thursday, the unidentified man was walking east on Avenue T west of 94th Street East within the eastbound traffic lane. Littlerock resident Shilo Schopp was driving his 2014 Chevrolet east on Avenue T west of 94th Street East when he suddenly felt an impact to the front of his vehicle, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

The front of Schopp’s vehicle struck the unidentified man, causing him to travel through the windshield of Schopp’s vehicle, the CHP said.

Schopp stopped and was immediately assisted by American Medical Response personnel who were traveling through the area.

The unidentified man sustained fatal injuries. Schopp sustained minor cut injuries and was transported to Palmdale Regional Medical Center for medical care.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the collision, the CHP said.

The victim’s identify is pending notification of next of kin.
