LANCASTER — One person was killed and six other people were injured Thursday afternoon in a five-vehicle collision.
At least one of the injured was freed from the wreckage of the crash, reported about 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of 60th Street West and State Route 138, which also is called Avenue D, authorities said.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, five people sustained moderate injuries and one had minor injuries, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
Two helicopters were used to take patients to a hospital. Others were sent by ambulance, according to the fire department.
All lanes of Route 138 were closed at the intersection following the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
