NORTH EDWARDS — The Muroc Joint Unified School District is seeking applicants from Edwards Air Force Base to fill a vacancy on its governing Board.
Board member Tatiana Matta resigned her position effective March 11, leading the Board to decide to make an appointment to fill her seat. The appointee will serve the remainder of her term, until Dec. 10, 2020.
The district, which oversees elementary, junior and senior high schools in Boron and Edwards Air Force Base, uses a system, approved by district voters in 1990, that dictates geographical representation on the Board. Two trustees each are elected from Boron and the base, and one is elected to represent North Edwards. Due to the nature of military service, Edwards representatives seldom are able to fill full four-year terms.
Applicants must be at least 18, reside on Edwards AFB and registered to vote within the Muroc Joint Unified School District.
Applications are available at the district office, 17100 Foothill Ave., North Edwards, or online at www.muroc.k12.ca.us in the “News” section or by clicking the “School Board” link.
Completed applications must be returned to the district office no later than 4 p.m. March 29. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
