LANCASTER — Authorities identified a 68-year-old Lancaster man who died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Friday night.

Around 8:30 p.m., Richard Goulet was behind the wheel of a white 2015 Ford Transit van, driving eastbound on Highway 138 west of 120th Street East when he “veered to the left into the path” of a 1999 Peterbilt semi driven by Efren Delgado, of Turlock, according to a CHP news release.

Delgado, 64, was uninjured in the crash.

“Alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to be a factor in this collision,” the CHP news release said.

The van ended up on the south shoulder of Highway 138 while the Peterbilt was on the north side. Both vehicles had extensive damages in photos posted in online forums.

While crews cleaned up a diesel spill at the scene after the incident, both lanes were closed for several hours, a CHP dispatcher said.
