LANCASTER — A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries Friday in a traffic collision with a civilian vehicle.

The 5:08 p.m. crash occurred at Challenger Way and Avenue K. Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed the deputy was eastbound on Avenue K when he attempted to turn left onto northbound Challenger Way. The juvenile female driver was westbound on Avenue K in a mid-size sedan.

The vehicles collided near the center of the intersection just as the two were entering it. The deputy and the female driver of the sedan the intersection sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the deputy for his injuries. The other driver declined medical attention.
