Former Rep. Katie Hill’s younger brother Danny Bennett, shown here at his graduation from boot camp, in a photo posted to Hill’s Facebook page, was found dead in his Saugus home, Saturday.

SAUGUS — The younger brother of former 25th Congressional District rep. Katie Hill, was found dead over the weekend, according to news reports and Hill’s social media.

A man found unresponsive in his home in the 19000 block of Via Joyce Drive in Saugus at about noon on Saturday, was later identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office as Daniel Brett Bennett, 20, according to The (Santa Clarita Valley) Signal.

“Yesterday, my baby brother Danny — a young man who overcame so much in his short life with so much promise ahead — passed away,” Hill posted Sunday morning on her Facebook and Twitter accounts. “My heart is breaking and I will miss him forever. Prayers for our family in this impossibly difficult time would be appreciated.”

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives found no evidence of foul play at the scene, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau sent on Saturday.

There is no report yet on the cause of death from the coroner.

Hill could not be reached for further comment Monday.

She announced her resignation on Oct. 27, following allegations of improper relations with staff members that triggered a House Ethics Committee investigation and following the release of nude photos of Hill in online conservative outlets.

She denied any wrongdoing and has said she was the victim of a revenge porn campaign.

Hill defeated former Rep. Steve Knight, R-Palmdale, in the 2018 Blue Wave that gave Democrats control of the House.

A special election to fill the remainder of her term to January 2021 will be held at the same time as the March 3 primary election for the seat.
