LANCASTER — The City joined InSite Development and Midas Hospitality Thursday morning to celebrate the official groundbreaking of The BLVD Marriott Residence Inn, a 107-room, 78,500-square-foot hotel in the heart of downtown.
The new Marriott property, near the corner of Gadsden Avenue and Lancaster Boulevard, will be the first hotel in the Antelope Valley region situated in a walkable downtown district.
“This development marks the next step in the evolution of downtown Lancaster,” Mayor R. Rex Parris said. “The patrons attracted to this extended-stay property will help strengthen downtown, creating new opportunities for existing restaurants, nightlife venues, and other businesses to thrive. These visitors, in turn, will enjoy a unique experience among one-of-a-kind locally owned businesses on The BLVD.”
The new hotel is the fruit of a partnership between longtime downtown developer InSite Development and renowned hotel operator Midas Hospitality.
For more than a decade, InSite Development has been a trailblazer in the redevelopment of Lancaster’s downtown area. Led by principals Steve Eglash, Scott Ehrlich, Scott Williams, and Wah Chen, the firm has brought a host of redevelopment and infill projects to The BLVD, ranging from residential and mixed-use to office and retail. Past projects have included the complex that is now Don Sal, Buckle & Boots, and Underground Bowl; redevelopment of the former Union Bank site into a multi-tenant commercial complex featuring Starbucks; and infill projects such as The BLVD Cinemas facility and the Arbor Lofts Apartments.

To bring about The BLVD Marriott Residence Inn, InSite teamed with Midas Hospitality, a hotel development, management, and investment firm that puts people first. The St. Louis-based company owns and operates hotels across the United States with a focus on upscale select-service and extended-stay properties.

The new hotel’s target completion date is in the first quarter of 2021.
