ACTON — Southern California Edison is contemplating a possible shutoff of electricity to areas of Acton, Agua Dulce, far southern unincorporated Palmdale and Angeles National Forest as early as Sunday because of weather predictions of very high temperatures followed by gusty mountain winds.

Edison has not yet decided to shut off electricity; this is an advisory warning for residents of the possibility in order to give them time to prepare. Last year, advisories frequently were not followed by shutoffs. An advisory last month for southeast Antelope Valley resulted in no shutoffs.

A power shutoff is of particular concern to people who have wells dependent on electric power, or who use medical devices powered by electricity.

Edison has sent out messages Friday by text, email and telephone to inform residents in the areas of the advisory.
