VAN NUYS — A Lancaster man was one of two men fatally shot Tuesday in Van Nuys, Los Angeles Police officials said Thursday.

Police are still seeking three or four suspects who fled the scene.

Police responded to a shots-fired call in the 15300 block of Wyandotte Street about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and found on the front porch of a residence two men who had suffered gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Kenneth Mendez, 22, of Van Nuys died at the scene, and Fernando Lopez, 37, of Lancaster, died at a hospital, according to the coroner’s office. One victim was lying on top of the other, police said.

Witnesses told police they heard an argument on the porch and heard gunshots. Police were looking for three or four men who ran from the scene and sped away in a car.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call homicide investigators at 818-374-1925; 877-LAPD-24-7, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
