EDITORIAL
General Assignment Reporter
Are you a great community reporter? The Antelope
Valley Press, an award-winning daily newspaper in the
high desert of Los Angeles County, is looking for a
versatile generalist with 1-3 years daily experience and
the ability to initiate and break stories in a fast-paced
news environment. Degree in journalism or related field
required. Will consider talent from excellent weeklies
and/or exceptional recent J-School grad. Full time; some
night and weekend work. Compensation negotiable;

CIRCULATION
Field Assistant
We are seeking a motivated individual to assist a Home
Delivery District Manager in the supervision of a
geographic zone encompassing sales, service, and
collection of all home delivery subscribers. Will assist
with the verification of delivery and oversight of
Independent Newspaper Distributors (independent
contractors) in adherence to contract obligations. Daily
tasks include responding to customer requests while
following company customer service requirements. This
full time position requires a flexible work schedule.
Requirements include:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Customer service experience
- Good communication and basic math skills
- Experience with independent contractors, a
plus
- Knowledge of route delivery and distribution, a
plus
- Familiarity with and ability to read and follow
Thomas Guide maps required
- Valid driver's license and proof of current
automobile insurance required
- Clean DMV record

Newsstand Service Route
Part-time position working early morning hours
distributing newspapers to rack locations and dealer
accounts. Shift starts at 12 midnight and ends at 5
a.m.
Requirements include:

Redelivery Driver
Our fast-paced Home Delivery Department is seeking an
energetic candidate to deliver newspapers to undelivered
homes. Daily tasks include the proper redelivery of
newspapers and adhering to customer requests while
following customer service requirements. This part-time
position requires a 5-hour/6-day schedule starting as
early as 5:00 a.m.
Requirements include:
- Customer Service experience
- Knowledge of route delivery and distribution a
plus
- Familiarity with and ability to read and follow
Thomas Guide maps
- Valid driver's license and proof of current auto
insurance required

Vending Machine Technician
This full-time position is responsible for
maintenance, repair, and collection of newspaper vending
machines. Training will be provided in assembly and
installation of newspaper vending machines and repair of
electronic mechanism.
Requirements include:
- Good communications skills
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited
supervision
- Basic math and record keeping skills
- Good troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Mechanical background a plus

Newspaper Merchandiser
The Antelope Valley Press is currently looking for an
energetic, friendly and detail-oriented person to fill
our Newspaper Merchandiser position. This part-time
position is responsible for acquiring new sales
locations, improving positioning and maximizing sales at
existing locations within an assigned territory.
You will check in-store displays and prospect retailers
to sell, set-up and establish new retail and vending
machine outlets, re-stock newspaper outlets during
peak sales times, and develop in-store sales promotions
with selected retailers.
Essentials duties of this position are to increase
newspaper sales volume and outlets; develop and maintain
a professional working relationship with store managers
and clerks; clean and add signage; and deliver in-store
displays as needed. May participate in special
events, grand openings, or support recovery of product as
needed in the instance of sell-outs and special editions
for late breaking news.
Requirements include:
- Completing and maintaining accurate records
- Good communication skills

vehicle insurance

OPERATIONS
Web Press Operator
The Antelope Valley Press has an immediate opening for
an experienced Web Press Operator; Goss Urbanite with
Enkel splicers. Must be experienced in 4-color
processing and plate making. This is a full-time
position with competitive salary and full benefits.
MARKETING
Graphic Designer
The Antelope Valley Press is seeking a creative
self-motivated team player with a minimum 3 years
work-related experience. AA degree in Graphic
Design preferred. Must be adept at multi-tasking
and be deadline driven. Individual should enjoy
working in a collaborative and creative environment and
at a fast pace. You will work on a variety of projects
from brochures, logo design, page layout and ad design.
You must be able to jump right in with current projects
already in progress. The ideal candidate will have
a creative sense of typography and page layout and
knowledge of print production. Proficiency in Adobe
InDesign, Quark Xpress, Photoshop, Illustrator and
Acrobat, a must. Experience in web design is not
mandatory but a definite plus.
