About the Paper - Valley Life

Seven days a week, the Valley Life section keeps readers up-to-date on the people, places and events of the Antelope Valley, and also gives them insight and advice on a wide range of other interests, including travel, pets, cooking and gardening and home improvement.

In addition to stimulating feature stories on people and the things that interest people, the section includes news of local organizations; brief items on the achievements of local people; bridal and anniversary news; health, fitness and medical updates; and fashion news.

Each day has a different theme: travel on Sundays, health and fitness on Mondays, community on Tuesdays, food and cooking on Wednesdays, youth on Thursdays, pets on Fridays and home and gardening on Saturdays.

Appearing daily in Valley Life is Annie's Mailbox, a favorite source of answers to sticky questions.

Also featured are In the Saddle by local columnist Valerie Zera, focusing on the local equestrian scene; Neal Weisenberger's Desert Gardener column, specifically geared toward the needs and interests of Antelope Valley gardeners; Family Way, in which local experts answer questions and address topics of pressing concern to families; Miss Manners on etiquette, and Martha Stewart on home decorating.

Columnists Kim Rawley writes on Sundays. In the VERNacular, by Vern Lawson, appears on Saturdays. Senior Scene, by Bettie Rencoret, is published on Tuesdays.

Regular features include Bulletin Board, a complete weekly, at-a-glance report on coming events, meetings and classes offered by public and private non-profit community groups; and Helpline, guiding readers to community services and support groups for specific needs.
