RIMAC, Joseph Marion, Sr.
RIMAC, Joseph Marion, Sr. Passed away on June 26, 2018, in Crescent City, Calif., at the age of 95. Joseph was born on September 8, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., to Mary Lazuka Rimac and Peter Rimac. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering. Joseph proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. Joseph married Mary Elizabeth Badger on June 21, 1947, whom he met at a USO dance in Chicago. After moving to Pennsylvania and then California, he worked for Mathews Conveyor Company and FMC Corporation until his retirement. He then enjoyed being a Walmart greeter in Palmdale, CA, for 10 years. An active and dedicated Christian, Joseph was a member of the United Methodist churches in Lancaster and Smith River, Calif. He enjoyed volunteering at the Smith River Library and donating food to the needy. In his spare time, he liked golfing, playing bridge, and dancing. Joseph had a long and joyful life and will forever be remembered for his positive outlook on life, his compassion for his fellow human beings (and animals), and his contagious sense of humor. He was a great role model for family and friends-a wonderful husband, a kind and supportive father, and a good man with a kind soul who gave of himself unselfishly and who brought joy and happiness to everyone he met. Joseph is survived by daughters Cynthia Brown (Edward Brown III, Crescent City, Calif.) and Linda Rimac Colberg (Ronald Colberg, Walnut Creek, Calif.), son Robert Rimac (Palm Springs, Calif.), brother Peter Donald Rimac (Santa Clarita, Calif.), two granddaughters, Kristina Brown and Allison Colberg, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Elizabeth Badger Rimac, and son, Joseph Rimac, Jr. Joseph's funeral was held at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary in Lancaster, CA, on July 6, 2018. He was buried with full Navy Military Honors next to his beloved wife. Pastor Steve Baker performed the service.
