MEISTER, Herbert, Herb A.
MEISTER, Herbert, 'Herb' A. Long time valley resident, U.S. Army veteran, and retired Civil Service employee, passed away April 21, 2018 at the age of 86. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 11, 1932, Herb served in the Army as a radar specialist during the Korean War. Stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas, he met the love of his life, Jo, at the local roller rink in 1953. They married December 15th of that year. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1954, and they moved to Illinois. One winter there and it was out to the Antelope Valley in 1955 to work in the aircraft industry. Herb spent his career devoted to many of the military planes you see today with his favorites the SR-71, the F-5 program with the Swiss government, the B-2 and the UH-1 Huey Helicopter. Herb joined the Knights of Columbus in 1955 and was also a Charter Member of the 4th Degree Assembly 73. He was instrumental in the construction of the Knights of Columbus Hall on Avenue M and a long time member of Sacred Heart Church until he moved to the west side of town where he served and contributed to the growth of Saint Junipero Serra Parish in Quartz Hill. Herb loved his family, friends, country and Snoopy! A devoted husband, father, grandfather (PaPa), and great-grandfather, Herb and Jo spent over 64 years together. Survivors include his wife Jo, his children Art, Ann (Bret) Carlson, John, and Mary (Michael) Perry, grandchildren Christine, Brenda, Janelle, Brooke, Christopher, Michelle, Breanna, Jared, Kyle, Blake, Garrett, Erik, Samantha and 15 great- grandchildren. Services on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 4-8 pm at Halley-Olsen -Murphy, with Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Saint Junipero Serra Parish, 42121 60th Street West, Lancaster. Internment will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery at 43121 70th Street West, Lancaster. Reception at St Serra Hall from 1 pm to 3 pm
