DAY, Paul Dennis (aka Burrhea
DAY, Paul Dennis (aka Burrhead) of Lancaster, died peacefully at AV Hospital, 3 February 2018, surrounded by family. Paul was born 16 August 1940 to Paul and Virginia Day, in Boston, MA. He grew up with love and affection from a huge family. At 18, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he worked on airplanes for the majority of his AF career. He was a brave and loyal soldier who loved his country. He travelled the world with assignments in Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, and most of Europe. His final assignment was Edwards AFB, retiring in 1983, and returning to work there as a civilian until 1999. His life revolved around airplanes and the flightline. He was not a patient man, did not suffer fools gladly, but would try to give a straight answer to any question even if the answer was not politically correct. He loved automobiles and was one helluva mechanic. He built a '37 truck from the chassis up in his garage. He supported the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and often had a little bet on game outcomes. He lived a full, satisfying life and left each encounter with more friends than when he started. He loved golf; played guitar and banjo; was a member of American Legion Post 311 and VFW. His humor would fill a room with laughter and possibly a few people shaking their heads. He could often be found walking through Stater Bros or Lowe's, checking the sales or sitting on the last seat at Rocomar, swapping lies, sharing stories and watching sports. For those who shared time with Burrhead, life will be a little less eventful. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Terry Day; one son, Doug (Tina); daughters Anna (Haji), Katy (Randy), Hallie (Felix); 4 grandchildren; Anthony, Nicholas, Hanna and Ian; two sisters, Diane and Cheryl, both of Massachusetts and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Virginia, and one sister Cathie. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 21 February, 4 - 7 pm at Joshua Memorial Park. A Memorial Ceremony will take place Saturday, 24 February, 11:00 am, at Lancaster United Methodist Church, followed by a lunch reception. The Day family welcomes all who would like to celebrate Paul's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul's name to the LUMC Mortgage Fund.
