COBB, Dr. Augustus Cohen III (
COBB, Dr. Augustus Cohen III (AC) 93, of Santee, California, died Christmas morning 2017. AC was born in Cedartown, Georgia, the oldest son of the late Josephine Ward and Augustus (Gus) Cohen Cobb, Jr. AC graduated from Lancaster High School, Lancaster, California before joining the US Navy. He served his country honorably in World War II as a naval aviator, receiving the American Area World War II Victory Medal. His passion for aviation remained throughout his life. AC graduated from the California College in San Francisco where he then served as Professor of Podiatric Medicine and Associate Chief of Staff. Dr. Cobb worked as Director of Research in the Department of Mycology and Physical Medicine, Podiatry Staff at Garden Hospital, Podiatry and Surgical Staff at the Polyclinic Hospital, and as Chairman of the National Board of Podiatry Exam. Dr. Cobb opened his own practice in La Mesa, California. Dr. Cobb, a 32ยก Master Mason, was a 71 year member in good standing at Lancaster Masonic Lodge #437 in Lancaster, California. Dr. Cobb is preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, brothers Ward Cobb and Dale Cobb, and special aunt Mary Ann Burhman. He is survived by his half-sister Allena Cobb Mann, step-brother Robert Phelps, stepson Gary Stanton, Gary's wife Molly and daughters Sally and Elena, stepdaughter Marsha Stanton, and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to his good friends Orla Brown, Chuck and Doreen Leverette, and Norma Scantlin. At Dr. Cobb's request, no memorial services were held.
