BECKWITH, Gordon Maxwell
BECKWITH, Gordon Maxwell Born February 2,1921 to Maxwell and Jennie Beckwith in Shafter, California, died in Lancaster, California on December 14, 2017. Gordon was an Antelope Valley native and graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1940. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941 Gordon enlisted in the US Marine Corp. While serving in the South Pacific during World War II he was stationed at Guadalcanal. Upon his honorable discharge in 1945 he married the love of his life, Elsie (Bobbie) Louise Crevolin at the Santa Barbara Mission on March 9, 1945. The couple had two children, Diane Jeanne on May 14, 1948 and Thomas Joseph on June 10, 1951. After experiencing many occupations and business opportunities, Gordon mastered the craft of carpentry and joined the Southwest Carpenters Union. At the age of 62 he retired from the union. In retirement he spent his time traveling throughout the southwest, camping and fishing. Eventually ending up at his favorite fishing hole at Eagle Lake, Susanville, California. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Bobbie and his daughter Diane. He is survived by his son, Tom (Debbie), son-in-law Dave Williamson, three grandchildren, Jeremy Williamson, (Kristen), Amy Ardouin (Ken) and Joe Beckwith, (Denise), seven Great Grandchildren, and his sister Jeanne Roach.Gravesite service will be at Joshua Memorial Cemetery, on December 28, 2017 at l pm.
