AVILA, Dennis 'Denny' Born July 17, 1953, passed suddenly on December 5, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in Lancaster, Calif. to Elmo and Edna and (step-father) Chuck Russell. Denny met the love of his life, Karen (Mayer) in 1976, and married a short time later. They spent nearly 42 wonderful years together. During Denny's 40+ years at Lockheed-Martin Skunk Works, he worked on many prestigious programs. Among his favorites were the SR-71 and the Space Shuttle, which he retired from as the Program Manager in 2013. Anyone who crossed Denny's path was met with open arms or a closed fist. He had a 'Give no sh**, Take no sh**' philosophy. Denny's political beliefs were strong, his opinion was stronger and his right to bear arms would never be taken away. He had a heart of gold and truly protected those around him, including the 4-legged kind. Denny leaves behind his wife Karen, two children and their spouses, Scott (Ashley), and Laurie (Brian), four grandsons, Cash Toneman, Aiden, Kason and Caleb and his 2 beloved dogs, Gidgit and Dolly. Our family would like to also thank Jeanette Langjahr and Denny's favorite M.A. Mariela at A.V. Pediatrics and Family Medicine for their dedication and love for their patients. Because of this we were able to have 4 more years with Denny. The family will be having a memorial service on December 16, 2017. For information please contact AvilaMemorialVIP@gmail.com. If you were one of those who was met with a closed fist, do not bother trying to attend. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Denny's honor to HalfwaytoHome.net
