OLSEN, Darrell Eugene
OLSEN, Darrell Eugene May 3, 1942 ~ October 5, 2017 Longtime Antelope Valley resident and business owner of Sierra Mower and Chainsaw Center. Darrell passed away after a 7 year battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lead, South Dakota and a graduate of Rapid City High School. He went on to attend the So. Dakota School of Mines and Technology. In 1963, he relocated to California joining other family members and was employed at North American working on the XB70 project. He was a member of the California National Guard 1964 - 1969, and called to active duty in 1968-1969. He was honorably discharged in 1969, and went on to work for General Telephone Co. and Grubl Industries. In 1980, he opened Sierra Mower & Chainsaw Center which he owned and operated for 31 years. Darrell was a lifetime member of the NRA as well as a member of the American Legion. Preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Thelma Olsen, brothers Carl and Ed, sisters Carol and Laura Darlene (Dar), brother-in-law Fred Wolken (Carol), sisters-in-law Dorothy (Carl), Joanne (Bill), and first wife Juanita. Darrell is survived by his wife Barbara, brother Bill, sisters Audy Grubl (Paul), Judy Kiefer, sister-in-law Patty (Ed). Nieces and nephews Freddie, Jeanne, Danny, Mike, Carrie, Carla, Tim, Mark, Randy, Michelle, Nikki, Ryan, four stepchildren Greg, Tina Lisa, Buddy, plus many extended family members and his faithful 4 legged companions Taz and Iggy. Private memorial service will be held at a later date. Joshua Memorial Park is handling arrangements.
