NYGAARD, Wayne D. January 13,1938 - September 23, 2017. Passed to the arm of his Lord at AV Hospital, after a short illness. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 1/2 years, Patti. Daughter's Sandy Esparza (Polo) Woodland, Calif., Ginger (Michael) Quartz Hill, Calif. Grandchildren, Portia Loveseth (Shaun) Jace Wagner (Allison), Travis Sheppard (Ashley) Shannon Sheppard, Christiano Esparza (Cheri), A'lyce Evans (Daniel). 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Amanda Nygaard and his son Carl Nygaard, brother, Don Nygaard and sister, Carol Nygaard Wildermuth. Wayne came to Lancaster in 1950. He graduated from Park View Grammar School and Antelope Valley High School in 1955. After high school, he was manager of Standard Oil Gas stations, until he joined the Los Angeles Co. Fire Dept. in 1962. He retired In 1986 and has worked as a Fire Safety Advisor Since his retirement. He was a member of Lancaster First Assembly of God for 67 years. He has been a member of Palmdale Fin and Feather Club for 59 years, Edwards Rod and Gun Club, Hi Desert Sportsmen, Hi Desert Iris and Day Lily Society, Life time member of the NRA, He also was a Committee member for over 35 years on the Antelope Valley Ducks Unlimited. He was a board member on the Palm Ranch Irrigation District for 38 years. He worked on many committees at the Antelope Valley Fair. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, gardening, dog training and many summers at Lake Almanor. He loved his great family and his many friends. Services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, 10 am at Lancaster First Assembly of God Church, 44514 20th St, West. Internment at Joshua Memorial. Reception to follow at Antelope Valley Fair Grounds. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ladies Aux. LA Co. Fire Dept. for the Ailsa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation or Antelope Valley Ducks Unlimited. Please mail checks for either to 5227 West Avenue M4, Quartz Hill, CA 93536
