COKER, Raymond Laufell
COKER, Raymond Laufell Raymond Laufell Coker died peacefully in Lancaster, California on September 3, 2017, at the age of 89. Raymond is survived by his children Randy Coker (Vickie), Bob Coker (Mary), Robbie Evans (Tom), and Ranee' Beery (Ray). He had six Grandchildren and five Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lila Mauldin Coker. Raymond was born January 17, 1928, in Conway, Arkansas and moved to the Antelope Valley in his late teens. He met and married Lila Mauldin in 1949, after which he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After settling in Lancaster, 'Ray' started his lifelong career driving a truck and hauling alfalfa. He often participated in the Rural Olympics at the A.V. Fair in the Hay Loading and Truck-Backing competitions, winning first place in Truck-Backing. A funeral, to be officiated by his nephew, Phillip Tate, will be held at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster on Friday, September 22, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Medrano's Restaurant, 44276 10th Street West in Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to: William J. 'Pete' Knight Veteran's Home, 45221 30th Street West, Lancaster, CA 93536.
