DARLING, Hardin Paul Hal
DARLING, Hardin Paul ÔHal July 15,1924 - Aug. 2, 2017 Hal passed away in his sleep at Antelope Valley Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lancaster Pioneer Dorothy Aliene Mumaw Darling and granddaughter Maggie Maude Parker. Hal was born 93 years ago in Long Beach, Calif. He moved with his family to Antelope Valleys eastside where his father Paul Darling began farming alfalfa. He was proud to have graduated from Roosevelt Grammar School and Antelope Valley High School. In High School he played baseball and joined the AV Band. He served in WWII, he drove a US Army tank for General George Patton. In the Korean War he became a Master Sergeant commanding his own tank Hal is remembered by friends as a successful softball pitcher for the Lancaster Elks teams. He was a member of the Lancaster Elks for 68 years. He worked for Southern California Edison for 33 years becoming a Trouble Crew Foreman. In his 32 years of retirement he enjoyed golf, woodworking and his love for Dixieland Music. He is survived by his son Boyd [Lin] Parker and his wife Karen of Wofford Heights, Calif., son Dennis Lee Parker of Lancaster, Calif. Grandchildren Brigadier General Boyd C.L. Parker IV and his wife Colonel Marlena V. Parker Of Doylestown, Pa., Matthew S. Parker and wife Robyn of San Diego, Calif. and granddaughter Teresa A. Troyer and husband Tim of Lakewood, Calif. great grandchildren Isabel, Olivia Parker and Taylor and Ty Troyer. Services will be held at Mumaws Funeral Home in Lancaster on Friday August 18. at 10:00 a.m. . A Elks Service and family and friends lunch reception Will Follow at The Lancaster Elks Lodge.
