CRANDALL, James Loid Born, May 4, 1928 passed peacefully July 14, 2017. Born to parents Loid and Chespa Crandall. Sisters Alice and Jane. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elaine Ritter Crandall, son Robert Seigfried and daughter Deanna (Rick) Gosselin. Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim Crandall served his country with honor and bravery as a member of the United States Marine Corps and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including tours of duty in China and Japan. He was a member of the mounted Search and Rescue Association of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and a member in good standing of the American Legion. Retired from the Federal Aviation Administration Los Angeles Center as a controller after 27 years of service. He worked for the Lancaster Gun Shop owned at the time by Jack and Phyllis First for seven years. In the past two years, Jim taught gun safety at the Gun Shop. He devoted much of his life to his community through the Boy Scouts of America. He was scoutmaster, assistant scoutmaster, Jamboree event chairman and Eagle Scout board of review. Jim received many distinguished awards for his service to the Boy Scouts. Memorial Service will be held Sept. 2, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Palmdale United Methodist Church, 39055 10th St. W., Palmdale, Calif. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
