Obituary Notices and Memorials

SON, Martha
SON, Martha 77, went home to be with the Lord, Thurs., June 22, 2017 at Palmdale Regional Hospital, with family and friends by her side. Born May 19, 1940, in Buffalo, N.Y., where she lived until the age of 13. She, along with her mother, three sisters and one brother moved to Calif. in 1953. Martha was a 1957 graduate of Van Nuys High School. At the age of 20, she met and married, Alan, her best friend and love of her life. Martha had an amazing love for life and people. Her faith in God was enormous and evident in all that she did. Her greatest joys in life were camping and playing cards with family and friends. Martha's idea of a perfect day would consist of her grandkids coming over to play card games with her. Her spunky personality and laughter were contagious to all of those who were around her. She would get so excited when she bought a present for someone, and before they opened it she would say, 'You're going to love it.' Martha also enjoyed giving little, 'I love you' gifts to her family and friends. So, to you, Martha (Mom), 'We love you,' and your gift is Heaven and 'You're going to love it. We will miss you tremendously.' Martha is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alan Son; children; Beverly (Kim) Rodgers and Mitch (Wendy) Son; grandchildren: Tyler, Chelsea, Courtney, Shane and Troy. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 565 W. Kettering St., Lancaster, Calif., on Fri., July 7, 2017 at 9:30am. She will be laid to rest at the Good Shepherd Cemetery in Lancaster, Calif., immediately following the services. Memorial gifts in Martha's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society at
