BROOKS, Harold Gillmore
BROOKS, Harold Gillmore Sept. 22, 1912-June 6, 2017 A 55 year resident of the Antelope Valley, Harold was born in Ft. Bragg, Calif. and grew up in Kansas City, Mo. As a young boy, he had the good fortune to meet Charles Lindbergh when Lindbergh landed his plane in a field in Kansas City, which fueled his love of flying. Graduated from the University of Missouri- Kansas City in the first graduating class in 1937. Served in the Army Air Corps from 1941-1945 during which time he built many radio/weather stations, the most valuable being in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. Harold was a radio/radar technician with the Civil Aeronautics Authority/ Federal Aviation Agency from which he retired after over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois, whom he met in Hilo, Hawaii; daughters: Sandra Cissell, Wendy Shafer (Jeff Reno); grandsons: Nathan Shafer, Ty (Mary) Shafer; and 4 great-grandchildren.
