Rein Betty Jean
REIN, Betty Jean Born January 13, 1926 in Boone, Iowa, passed away May 7, 2017 in Eagle Rock, Calif. Betty graduated from Boone High School. In her early twenties, she moved to Long Island, N.Y., where she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at Valley Stream Bank. There Betty met her husband in 1946, right after the war, and they were married in 1947. She later lived in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., where she was a swim instructor, and enjoyed water skiing and bowling. Later she moved to Atlanta, Ga., before settling in Lancaster, Calif. As a resident of the AV for 40 years, Betty was a member of the Assistance League of Antelope Valley for 25 years, where she volunteered in the preschool program, and at the 'Twice as Nice' Thrift shop. She volunteered 25 years at High Desert Hospital in the Gift Shop, and 20 years at the Poppy Festival and was awarded the Los Angeles County High Desert Hospital Volunteer of the year award in 2005. Betty was a generous and kind person who could always be counted on to lend a hand. Survived by daughter Lynn Rein-Wetherwax, of Burbank, Calif.; sons John Rein of Lancaster, Calif. and Steven Rein of Duluth, Ga.; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, she is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Rein; brothers Cleo and Gerald Sill, and her sister, Doris Bower. Betty was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great- grandmother, and will be missed by family and friends. A private memorial service will be held.
