Plahn, Sonja Dyann Ideen
PLAHN, Sonja Dyann (Ideen) Born Feb. 14, 1936 in Lincoln, Neb. to Henry and Margaret Ideen. 1936 was the coldest winter ( and hottest summer ) so Henry was forced to drive his Model T on the railroad tracks from their home in Raymond to Lincoln so Sonja could be delivered in the hospital. Sonja came to Lancaster in 1958 and worked at the California Bank. In 1960, she began working for the Eastside Union School District teaching K-2 until her retirement in 2000. Sonja met her future husband, John C. Plahn, while working at the bank. They married on June 19, 1960. He predeceased her in 1977. Sonja will be remembered for her love of life and family, strong connections with friends, service to the AV Community Concert Association, passion for cooking, traveling, bridge, taking care of her animals and beautiful garden, and her strong faith in Jesus Christ. Sonja is survived by her son Sheldon Von Plahn (Midland, Texas), daughter-in-law Judy Wright Plahn (Richmond, Va.), brother Jackson Ideen (Casa Grande, Ariz.), grandchildren: Kendall (Scott) Thow, Kelsey (Andrew) Miller, Jordon Plahn, Brianna Plahn; great-granddaughter, Isla Thow, great-grandson Milo Thow; cousin Susan Hughes Gingrasso, nephew Brandon Ideen and nieces: Adrienne Chruscinski and Andrea Rodi. She was blessed with many friends who have displayed love, support and offered many prayers on her behalf. A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, April 11, 2017 at Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations, 44831 North Cedar Avenue, Lancaster , Calif. 93534. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Pet Smart Foundation, the USO or a charity oy your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations in Lancaster.
