CLAYTON, Janet Rose
CLAYTON, Janet Rose Died peacefully on Feb. 4, 2017 in Escondido, Calif., surrounded by friends and family at the age of 88. Janet was born on April 5, 1928 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Harry and Mildred Acord. She graduated from San Fernando High School in 1947 and married Robert E. (Bob) Clayton in 1950. Eventually they moved to Lancaster, Calif., where they raised their three children. Bob owned and operated Clayton Fire Equipment. Janet went to work as a transcriber at AV Hospital and later worked in the general surgery office of Dr. Holmes and Dr. Larson. She was also a volunteer for the AV Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Janet and Bob built a second home in La Conchita, a small beach community in Ventura County. There they enjoyed many vacation weekends with family and friends. After Bob sold his business, they bought a new home in Bishop, Calif., where they loved to fish in their boat at June Lake and enjoyed many visits from family and friends. They stayed in Bishop for 12 years before returning to Lancaster. Janet had the gift of reaching out to others. She was a truly loving and generous person. She was vivacious and fun and really cared about her family and friends. She loved, she lived and she and her legacy lives on in the hearts of all the people she touched. Survived by children, Robyn Browning (Douglas) of Escondido, Christy Clayton (Anne) of Fernley, Nev., and Andrew Clayton of Escondido, Calif., granddaughter Corey Browning and great- grandson Taylor Ryan Browning of Escondido, Calif., sister, Diane Titus (Jim) of Wadsworth, Nev., nephew Brett Dietrich (Jeanette) of Fernley, Nev., and nieces and nephews, Janet is preceded in death by parents, Harry and Mildred Acord, husband, Robert Clayton (Dec. 3, 2004), and brother Harry (Bud) Acord Jr. Janet always loved a celebration, therefore her funeral will be on St. Patrick's Day, Fri., Mar. 17, 2017, 2:00pm (Rosary at 1:30pm) at Resurrection Catholic Church, 1445 Conway Drive, Escondido, Calif. 92027 with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Janet's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Resurrection Catholic Church building fund at the above address.
