DeBRY, Irene Shirley (Shimek) Passed away on Dec. 20, 2016 in Green Valley, Ariz., just a week after celebrating her 88th birthday. She was born Dec. 13, 1928 in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Perchal) Shimek. Irene graduated from John Fremont High School in Los Angeles with the class of 1947. She was a secretary at Century Metal Craft in San Pedro. On Nov. 7, 1947, she married Robert W. DeBry in Los Angeles, Calif. Robert was transferred as a Deputy Sheriff from the Los Angeles area to Lancaster in 1963. Irene was the administrative secretary at Quartz Hill High School in 1965 and retired in 1985 after over 20 years with the school district. She and her husband Robert lived in the Quartz Hill and Lancaster area for over 35 years until they moved to St. George, Utah and then to Sahuarita, Ariz. in 2009. Irene was an avid golfer who loved to camp, fish and travel the world with family and friends. Irene will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family and was an inspiration to all. She is predeceased by her parents, husband Robert, and her sister and only sibling Eleanor Curtis. Irene is survived by three children, Mike DeBry (Dayle), Steve DeBry (Diana) and Marlene Hussman; five grandchildren, Darrell Hussman (Angelica), Weston DeBry (Jessica), Dustin DeBry, Garrett DeBry, and Brett DeBry; four great-grandchildren, Payton, Preston and Kierra Hussman and Holley DeBry. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 4, 2017 at 9:00 am.
