STEELE, WINNIFRED ETTA
STEELE, Winnifred Etta "Winnie" Walker Of Palmdale, Calif. passed away on Wed., Nov. 16, 2016, at Community Hospital in San Bernardino, Calif. She was born on Sat., Mar. 27, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Thompson Walker. Winnie grew up in Boston, Mass. and in Dec. 1971 married the love of her life, Frederick C. Steele, U.S. Navy. They were happily married for 46 years. Winnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked in the cafeteria at Highland High School in Palmdale, Calif. until she retired in 2000. Winnie was a devoted Catholic and attended Father Sierra Parish in Lancaster, Calif.. She was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3552 and the American Legion Post 348, both in Palmdale, Calif. Winnie loved her Wed. afternoon appointment at the JC Penney beauty parlor and was a friend to everyone she met. She loved crafts, fishing, camping, music, dancing, and she especially loved her roses, with red being her favorite. Winnie is much loved by family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. Survived by her husband Frederick C. Steele, children: James A. Sours, Winchester, Va., Karen Steele Thompson, Woodstock, Ga., Cynthia Van Doren, West Hartford, Conn.,, Cristi Sullivan, Harrisburg, N.C., grandchildren: Chastity, Katie, Mack, Sam, Brenna, David, Paul, Jack: great - grandchildren: Sean, Cheyanne, other family/friends: Shannon, Jan, Sandy, Wayne, Jennifer, Paula, Elaine, preceded in death were her parents Howard and Mary Walker, daughter: Tabitha. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am at McWane Family Funeral Home 350 N. San Jacinto Blvd, Hemet Calif. 92545. A graveside service will follow at 12:30pm at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, Calif., 92518
