ANDERSON, William
ANDERSON, William Edward "Bill" was born on May 9, 1939, to the late Arthur and Ollie V. Anderson in Mayetta, Kan. Bill spent most of his young adult years in Mayetta, attending Prairie Band and Circleville Grammar Schools and Mayetta High Schools. In 1958, Bill enlisted into the United States Navy where he was assigned to the CBs (Construction Battalion). In 1958, he met and married Hazel Thomas and to this union two children, Priscilla and Jerome, were born. He later met and married Betty, and to this union two sons, William "Bill Jr." and Edward Charles, were born. He would continue to serve his country for a total of 8 years, ending his service in Port Hueneme. In 1962, Bill received an honorable discharge as an E5 with the US Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 10. Bill enrolled into Los Angeles Trade Technical College where he honed the skill of a Master Plumber. He quickly landed a job with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Soon after, he would join the County of Los Angeles, Department of Parks and Recreation where he was favored by all. Bill was responsible for the design and construction of Castaic Lake's Lower Lake Swim Beach and several other plumbing projects throughout Los Angeles County. After 31 years of service, he retired his tenure with Parks and Recreation's North Agency in 1997. In 1990, Bill met and later married Charlene Wilks in 1999. With her came three children, Tonya, LaVerne, and Emmett. The marriage solidified two loving families and Bill kept everyone together. Upon retirement, Bill continued to enjoy life. He and Charlene loved to travel and play the slot machines in Las Vegas when he could no longer 'feed the horses'. Bills life was truly a portrait of hard work and great times.
