GOMEZ, Salvador
GOMEZ, SALVADOR Nov. 14, 1941 - July 6, 2016 Salvador Gomez, 74, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2016, while surrounded by his family at his home in Lancaster, Calif. He was born in Bakersfield, Calif., on Nov. 14, 1941. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annabelle, his son, Salvador Gomez, Jr. (Lisa), and daughters Annamarie Gomez (Dave) and Christina Gomez (Derek). He is lovingly remembered by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Carmen Gomez, and grand-daughter, Rachel Ann. Sal attended Bakersfield High School. Following graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served honorably from 1961 to 1965. He then worked in civil service for the United States Army as a Quality Control Supervisor for over 30 years. Sal was a member of the Lancaster and Quartz Hill Moose Lodges, Lancaster Elks Lodge and the Lancaster Fraternal Order of Eagles. Sal enjoyed fishing, golf, playing the guitar, and singing karaoke. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and, despite his age, was often caught playing basketball with his great-grandsons. He is greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Funeral and interment services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 12pm at Joshua Memorial Chapel in Lancaster. The family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
