BOZIGIAN, Louis Vahan
BOZIGIAN, Louis Vahan passed away on July 7, 2016 at the age of 90. He was born on April 26, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to Araxie and Vahan Bozigian. The son of Armenian immigrants, Bozigian grew up in Southern California and attended South Gate High School. During World War ll, he served in the Army and at age 19 was wounded in the Phillippines. He was awarded a Purple Heart for Military Merit. After the war he returned to Southern California where he met and married Nellie Ananian on November 29, 1947. The couple moved to the Antelope Valley in 1955, where he resided until 2014. During that time he co-owned and operated Bozigian Ranch and later was the broker co-owner of a real estate company for 35 years. After his retirement, he moved to Valencia to be close to his daughter Cathy. Lou loved the Antelope Valley where he was a resident for 60 years. During that time his involvement in the community was so broad that it is difficult to mention all of his accomplishments but to highlight just a few: He was a school board member for the AVUHSD, Lancaster Planning Commissioner, Lancaster City Councilman, Lancaster Mayor, President and member of the Desert Haven Board for 50 years, President of the Lancaster Performing Arts Foundation for 25 years, GAVAR Broker of The Year, Recipient of the GAVAR Image Award, American Cancer Society Ambassador of The Year, Recipient of the Henstra Award and Recipient of the Athena Award. In 2013 he was named 'Mayor Emeritus' of the City of Lancaster and given the key to the city. In the later years of his life, he and Nellie enjoyed extensive traveling throughout the United States and Europe, with his favorite destination always being the Hawaiian Islands. Lou is survived by his daughter Cathy Clark and husband Jay, his daughter Carol O'Connor and husband Terry, grandchildren Cristin Denlea and husband Phil, John O'Connor and wife Jenny, Jeffrey Clark and wife Lacey, and Carrie Kossick and husband Christopher. He is also survived by great grandchildren Elle Denlea, Graham Denlea, Anna O'Connor, June Kossick, Oliver O'Connor, and Sarah Kossick. He is also survived by his sister Amelia Folaron, brother Ralph Bozigian and wife Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Nellie, daughter Caren, and his parents. Lou will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him for the kind, warm, generous person that he was. Services will be July 14, 2016, 11:00 am, at Lancaster United Methodist Church, 918 West Avenue J, Lancaster. Interment will be private.
