VASS, Pam Ella (Meehan) EPILOGUE Jan. 30, 1951 - June 24, 2016 Pam was known as 'The Queen Mother' in Larry Vass' Sunday columns published in the A. V. Press from 2006 through 2016. In the early morning of June 6, 2016, she tripped and fell, hitting her head on her bathtub. After a quick 911 call, she went to the Emergency Room and underwent emergency brain surgery. After 18 days in the Intensive Care Unit at Antelope Valley Hospital, she left this life on Friday, June 24, 2016. Born in Van Nuys, she was always a'Valley Girl' who had a difficult time leaving the San Fernando Valley for the desert, but after two years, she came to love it and our Antelope Valley. She was a very intelligent, gregarious, and spirited lady who suffered greatly throughout much of her life. At age 15, she survived a car wreck that broke her back and left her as a partial paraplegic. At the time, when just 15 years old, her doctors told her she would never walk again, and she would never have babies. Pam endured 34 surgeries in her life as well as suffering several strokes and other afflictions, and even overcame a bone infection that persisted for a year. After a one-year courtship, she was married for 46 years to Larry Vass. They raised three gifted daughters, of whom they were very proud: Tamara Gwen, Amy Ann, and Sara Lynn. Pam and Larry were also proud of Tamara's husband Leon, and Amy's husband Jeff. Pam is also survived by six grandchildren, her brother Dan Meehan, her sister Ann Meehan, and numerous nephews and nieces scattered across several states. Pam left behind her very close friends Patty Hall, Cherie Hastings, Mary Markovich, and Debbie Dugger, as well as many dear friends from the neighborhood where she lived for the past 43 years. Her memorial will be held 10 am, Sat., August 13, 2016 at Grace Chapel, 44648 15th Street West. It will include a 'modified mic' wherein family and friends may have a voice to remember Pam. Please submit what you wish spoken at Pam's Memorial to Larry Vass at either P.O. Box 2222, Lancaster, Calif., 93539 or to and your input will be read by the Pastor in the service.
